1. QR Code Installation
1.1 All QR Secure QR codes must be installed by an authorised QR Secure Installation Technician (Agent). The QR codes can be installed either on-site, or at an authorised QR Secure Installation Centre. You will need to provide the agent with an authorisation code in order for the agent to install the QR codes on your assets. Without the authorisation code, your agent will be unable to access any of your assets on the database.
1.2 All QR Secure QR codes are permanently laser etched onto the asset and cannot be removed. Each asset must have at least one QR Secure QR Code installed, although 2 or 3 are often recommended depending on the asset.
1.3 Upon successful installation, the QR codes will be activated by the agent. Once activated, the QR codes can be scanned to check the status of the asset, subject to a valid subscription. Without a valid subscription, the QR code can still be scanned but the status will be unknown.
1.4 QR Secure reserves the right to refuse installation of new QR codes on items that are stolen or damaged to the point where a QR code cannot be reliably installed. Phones with cracked rear glass cannot have new QR codes installed.
1.5 Although a QR code can be installed on an asset without proof of ownership, the asset will be marked as unverified until proof of ownership has been provided and checked by a QR Secure Agent. If proof of ownership is provided at the time of installation, the asset will be marked as verified. Alternatively, if proof of ownership is no longer possible (such as when the asset has been donated, handed over, or old enough that you no longer have the receipt), then ticking the box to confirm that the asset is not stolen is sufficient.
1.6 In the event of a QR code being installed incorrectly, the bad QR code will be erased and rendered unreadable by lasering a blank square over it, and another QR code will be laser etched in another location on the asset.

2. Fraudulent Asset Registration
2.1 If we discover that you have deliberately registered a stolen asset, your account will be blocked immediately and your personal details will be handed over to the police. Your account will remain blocked either permanently, or until the matter is resolved by the police and the police authorize us to unblock your account.
2.2 If you register an asset which, unbeknownst to you, subsequently turns out to be a stolen asset, the asset will be frozen in your account and your details handed over to the police. You will still be able to manage other assets in your account.
2.3 QR Secure reserves the right to share any asset details with the police for the purpose of law enforcement.

3. Bookings and Payments
3.1 All new bookings for on-site QR code installation must be made via the QR Secure online booking system, which is available after you have signed up, logged in, and have added assets which don't yet have QR Secure QR codes installed.
3.2 For on-site bookings, full payment is taken upfront, online electronically, at the time of booking. Payment methods are listed at checkout. The payment includes a number of assets for QR code installation. The actual number included is stated at the time of booking, and any additional assets can be included for an extra fee, as detailed at the time of booking.

4. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds
4.1 Bookings can be rescheduled or cancelled based on the online policy set out at the time of booking, and at checkout. Please read the cancellation policy at the time of booking prior to making any payment, which sets out the terms and conditions for rescheduling a booking and any refunds.
4.2 Due to the permanent nature of the laser etched QR codes, there are no refunds once a QR code has been installed on an asset.

5. Transfer of Ownership
5.1 Due to the permanent nature of the laser etched QR codes, it is possible to transfer the ownership of an asset to someone else.
5.2 Transfer of ownership can only be done if the asset has a QR Secure QR Code installed.
5.3 If the asset doesn't have a QR Secure QR code installed, the asset can simply be deleted from the database and the details re-entered by the new owner.
6. Deleting Assets
6.1 If an asset does not have a QR code installed, it can be permanently deleted from the database.
6.2 If an asset already has a QR code installed and you attempt to delete it, it will be archived instead and will no longer appear in your normal list of active assets. You can unarchive an archived asset at any time.
6.3 Whilst an asset is archived, you cannot change its status or transfer ownership, and the status will be displayed as Unknown.

7. Scanning of QR Codes on Assets
7.1 When a QR Secure QR code on an asset is scanned by anyone with a smartphone, their phone will display details about the asset and a notification may be sent to you. The details displayed about the asset, and whether or not a scan alert notification is sent, will depend on several factors, including:
- Whether or not location services are enabled on their device.
- The status of the asset set by you.
- Whether or not the QR code has an active monthly subscription or annual PAYG subscription associated with it.
7.2 If you scan the QR Secure QR codes on your own assets, you can also display your proof ownership in person.
7.3 If anyone scans your assets and is authorised to request proof of ownership, you can remotely prove your ownership if you have an active subscription which supports Remote Proof of Ownership.
8. Reporting Assets as Stolen or Lost
8.1 If your assets are ever stolen (or lost), first you must report them as missing to the police.
8.2 After reporting the theft of an asset to the police and obtaining a crime reference number (CRN) you must set the status of the assets to Stolen and enter the Crime Reference Number. Whenever the QR code is scanned, it will show the asset as stolen and will display the crime number. This helps the police with the recovery and repatriation of the asset.
8.3 If you know the asset is lost rather than stolen, you can mark it as Lost instead of Stolen.

9. Recovery of Stolen Assets
9.1 For your own safety, recovery of stolen assets should be handled by the police.
9.2 Once an asset has been recovered and repatriated, the status should be changed so that it's no longer marked as stolen.
9.3 Installation of QR Secure QR codes onto your assets doesn't guarantee that your assets will be recovered and repatriated if stolen. The purpose of marked assets is to assist in their recovery by the police and increase the chances of them being returned.

10. Deleting Your Account
12.1 You can request your account to be deleted at any time. Once your account is deleted, you will no longer have access to your assets in the database and you won't be able to recover your account.
12.2 When your account is deleted, any marked assets will remain on the database and their status set to unregistered. Any subscriptions will be cancelled and you will not be entitled to any refunds.

11. Safety Rules During QR Code Installation
11.1 For your own safety, if you are not wearing any laser eye protection goggles, you must keep at least 3 metres away from direct line-of-site of the laser station when your assets are being laser etched.
11.2 Whenever possible, the agent will install a protective cone on the laser before commencing the laser etching. If fitting the protective cone is not possible due to the size and shape of the asset, the agent will be wearing protective glasses. Unless the agent has issued you with protective glasses, you must not approach the laser station.
11.3 You must never look directly into the laser beam, or into the reflected laser beam.
11.4 You must follow all the safety instructions issued by the installation agent, whether it's on-site or on-premises.
11.5 If you compromise your safety or the safety of others, the agent is authorised to immediately stop any QR code etching activity and leave. You will not be entitled to a refund.
12. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions
12.1 By signing up, or making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
12.2 Failure to comply may result in denied account access, and even referral to the police for suspected fraud or theft.
